Why Underlined Unicode Text Can Look Different
Unicode combining marks are separate code points that attach to the character before them. The underline is therefore rendered by the font and text engine used by the receiving application.
This differs from CSS, HTML, or rich-text formatting, where the application draws a continuous line beneath a complete word or sentence. Unicode underline marks attach character by character, which is why gaps can appear beneath spaces.
Different fonts may position the marks at slightly different heights. Double lines and decorative styles are more likely to look crowded, clipped, or uneven than a simple single underline.
