How This Zalgo Text Generator Works
This Zalgo text generator creates distorted text by adding Unicode combining marks above and below ordinary letters. The extra marks remain attached to the copied characters, producing a corrupted, glitchy, or chaotic appearance without creating an image.
Type a name, sentence, gaming message, caption, or short phrase into the input field. The generator immediately returns nine Zalgo text styles with different intensity and mark-placement settings.
Light Zalgo adds a small number of marks and usually remains relatively readable. Medium Zalgo creates a more noticeable glitch effect, while Heavy Zalgo places a denser collection of marks around each supported character.

Light Zalgo Text
Light Zalgo adds a limited number of Unicode marks to each supported character. The original letters usually remain recognizable, making it useful for short captions, profile labels, game messages, and decorative headings.
Medium Zalgo Text
Medium Zalgo increases the number of marks for a stronger distorted-text effect. It balances readable letters with visible corruption for horror captions, fictional errors, community posts, and creepypasta-style writing.
Heavy Zalgo Text
Heavy Zalgo stacks many marks around each character. Use it for short dramatic effects rather than usernames, instructions, or long passages because dense output is more likely to overlap, clip, or be rejected.
Marks Above the Text
Above mode places most combining marks over the characters. It creates a rising glitch effect, although tall marks may overlap a previous line when the destination font provides limited vertical space.
Marks Below the Text
Below mode positions corruption primarily beneath each character. The result can look like melting or dripping text, but fixed-height buttons, usernames, and form fields may clip the lower marks.
Marks Around the Text
Around mode combines marks above and below the letters. It creates the traditional Zalgo appearance and is available at light, medium, and heavy intensity, but usually requires the most vertical space.

Why Zalgo Text Looks Different Across Apps
Zalgo text relies on Unicode combining marks. These marks are separate code points that attach to a preceding character rather than replacing the original letter.
The receiving font decides where each mark should be drawn. Identical Zalgo text may therefore look compact in one browser, widely spaced in another, or partially clipped inside an app with limited line height.
Operating systems and applications can also process the same sequence differently. Some preserve every mark, while others normalize the text, remove duplicate marks, restrict unusual characters, or reject the input entirely.
Heavy Zalgo creates the greatest rendering risk because it contains more combining marks per character. The marks may overlap nearby lines, buttons, menu items, or other interface elements.
